So its been awhile since I have posted on here and I apologize for that! I am finally in Lux and I am settled in. My host family is great. They are so good to me and I feel very blessed that I have been placed with them. My family consists of a single mom and with three kids. The oldest one, david is about 23, I think and only comes home on weekends. Bummer that he has a girlfriend here in Lux! The next in line is Zoe, 15. She loves to talk to me because she is very interested in the English language. Dana is the youngest, 11, and has only been learning english for about a year now. In my opinion she is pretty good at english for only been learning it for a year. All of my family speaks english which is amazing! My host mom is very sweet and wants me to feel right at home. She tells me that she will do my laundry when i need her to and she is always asking me if I want anything at the supermarket. I have heard some terrible stories already about people's host families so I am grateful for mine! I am living in Differdange which is also where the chateau is located. I have about a 15 minute walk to the chateau each morning. Except today, Wednesday it took a little longer because the sidewalks were covered in ice. At one point I was trying to walk on a sidewalk that was some what of a hill and I had no traction what soever. I took a step and didnt go anywhere....I mean I went somwhere...just not forward.
The first day the Columbus group got here was Thursday night at 10:30 Lux time. My host family met me at the chateau that night and took me back to their house. The next morning, Friday, we all had to be at the chateau at 8:45 am. It was hard getting up but nice to be with new people :)
Friday was a full day. It started by listening to a lecture on travel by Nicole Cozzi who works with the students here, then one by Dr. Stiller, who is the dean of the school who gave us a lecture on The Philosophy of MUDEC. The last lecture of the day was by Nicole again and it was about the student activities that will take place here. That afternoon I was scheduled to have free time but instead I went on a tour of Luxembourg City and U.S. and German Military Cemeteries with a group of students. I was suppose to go to these places on Thursday but since I arrived late to Lux, I went with a different group.
Once the tour was over in Luxembourg City, we were told that we had to figure out the trains by ourselves and find out way back to Differdange. Luckily I was with professor and one other girl from school so we both followed the professor to the platform that we needed to be at. The train station was so hectic! It was way too much to take in all at once! Dont worry though I finally made it back to my host families house safe and sound that night. Time has run out for me for now but more news is to come!

Travels to Lux

So today was an adventure in itself. It was a day of traveling over to the place that I would spend for the next 4 months....but that all changed when part of the door on our plane that was departing out of columbus broke off! Who knew that I would be spending the night in Columbus with my parents when I was suppose to be on my way to Luxembourg. But lets just hope this doesnt happen all over again when we fly out tomorrow. Tomorrow we fly out of Columbus to Chicago, Chicago to London and then London to Dusseldorf. With a 7 hour layover in Chicago! Boy tomorrow is going to be loooong day. As long as I get there, I dont care how long it takes.
Being delayed a day late means that when we actually get to Luxembourg, the 23 students that are here in Columbus, will be a day and a half late getting there. We will miss a lot of the scheduled orientation activities, but it will all work out. All the other students will get to Luxembourg at the scheduled time, only the students out of Columbus missed the connecting flight to Dusseldorf. Things will work out and can't wait to get there soon!
